Spine restored with the original rebacked, very faded, with spotting (Period binding). First edition. Account of a winter ascent of the Vincent Pyramid on Monte Rosa. The first winter ascent of Pointe Dufour had been made the previous year (26 January 1884) by Vittorio Sella. Caproni Vizzola illustrated bookplate glued to the inside back cover. Ex-libris Peter Obergfell pasted on the flyleaf. Paper uniformly browned.
Angelo MOSSO (Turin 1846-1910), mountaineer and professor of physiology in Turin, carried out research into the effects of altitude on man using the laboratory in the Margherita hut, built in 1893 on Monte Rosa at 4,560m.
