Sebastien Münster (1488-1552) was a humanist scholar and cartographer from southern Germany. His Cosmography was the most famous work of topography of the 16th century. The work includes mountain regions, with varying degrees of accuracy; in the section on the Valais, Münster refers to glaciers.
