He has been informed that several of these positions are currently vacant. His former services, his irreproachable character and the misfortunes that have plunged him into distress entitle him to your interest and that of the Government. I beg you to distinguish his request from the crowd of those which are addressed to you, and to put it under the eyes of the First Consul, by reminding him of the particular titles of this general officer. You will add... to the rights which give you to my gratitude the kind manner in which you have kindly accepted everything which I have had the honour of addressing to you up to now.
