First French edition by the physician Pierre Massuet. Pierre Van Musschenbroek, physicist, deals with mechanics, electricity, magnetism, optics, acoustics, comets,... The work is illustrated with a large engraved portrait and 30 scrolling plates, including a map of the world in the second volume. The latter is followed, in separate pagination, by the Description de nouvelles sortes de machines pneumatiques with a collection of several curious experiments illustrated with 4 large plates. Light brown spotting, slight wear to boards, minor defects to spines.
