Lot no. 50
MUSSET (Alfred de). A show in an armchair. Prose. Paris, Revue des Deux Mondes ; Londres, Baillière, 1834. 2 volumes in-8, midnight blue half-maroquin with corners, gilt head, untrimmed, cover, edged slipcases (Trautz-Bauzonnet). First edition of Musset's prose theatre, extremely rare because it was partly destroyed. His verse theatre had already been collected in a volume published by Eugène Renduel in 1833.
These two volumes bring together some of Musset's most famous plays, including Lorenzaccio, Les Caprices de Marianne, Fragment du livre XXV des Chroniques florentines, André del Sarto, Fantasio, On ne badine pas avec l'amour and La Nuit vénitienne.
A very fine copy bound by Trautz-Bauzonnet.
