NABOKOV (Vladimir). Lolita. Paris, The Olympia Press, 1955. 2 volumes in-12, paperback, green cloth jacket and slipcase stamped in black and white. First edition of Nabokov's masterpiece. The manuscript of this mythical novel, destined for worldwide success, was rejected by more than thirty American and British publishers before Maurice Girodias decided to publish it in Paris, with The Olympia Press. No large paper print was made of this work. A first-edition copy in very good condition, with the price tag Francs: 900 intact on the cover of the first volume. Price label readjusted at the foot of the second cover of the second volume. It is preserved in an attractive slipcase by Patrice Goy (unsigned) reproducing the covers of the book. Slight rubbing, creases to the spine of the first volume with small tears to the tail.
