He produced photographic portraits of Lenin, numerous Soviet statesmen, as well as writers, poets, musicians and artists of the 1920s and 1930s. The compiler of the book is Ilya Ezrovich Rudyak (1939-2020), film director, screenwriter, owner of a bookshop in Chicago and collector.
