(lower right); pencil inscription 'For Kniaseff' (verso) watercolour and pencil on paper 31.9 x 24.1 cm executed around 1932 PROVENANCE: Alexandra Larionov-Tomilina Collection Certificate of authenticity by François Daulte, Lausanne, 18 November 1995 The Tale of Tsar Saltan' is an opera by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov based on Alexander Pushkin's poem written in 1831. The opera was composed in 1899-1900 to coincide with Pushkin's centenary and was first performed in Moscow in 1900. ⊕ This lot is under temporary importation and is subject to import tax (5.5%) (EU) and customs agent administrative charges.
