NEAR EASTERN ANTHROPOMORPHIC POTTERY VESSEL.
Ca. 2000 - 1000 BC
A pottery vessel with a tall conical body above a sharply carinated lower section tapering to a small flat base. The exterior is covered with a red slip and terminates above in a pinched mouth modelled as a schematic human head framed by black painted hair, with large eyes, prominent nose and red cheek patches. The neck is encircled by a collar of large cream roundels within dark borders, with a similar frieze around the widest part of the body.
