NEAR EASTERN CYLINDER SEAL. Ca. 1000 - 500 BC. A carnelian seal of cylindrical form, pierced longitudinally. The upper section features a seated figure on a high chair beneath a palm tree, positioned at the back of a reclining animal and facing the tree. On the opposite side, a second reclining animal is depicted. A scorpion and a series of rosettes are interspersed throughout the scene. The lower section depicts humanoid figures with rounded bodies and raised arms, holding palm branches. Ladder-like structures and additional circular motifs frame the composition.
