NEO-ASSYRIAN AMETHYST LION PENDANT Ca. 700 - 600 BC. A translucent amethyst pendant carved in the form of a stylised Lion head, with furrowed brows and a broad snout framed by flaring nostrils and curling beard-like details. Large rounded ears project laterally from the sides, and a vertically ribbed suspension loop rises from the crown. For similar see: J. P.
