NEVERS. Earthenware plate with contoured rim and polychrome decoration, in the centre, of a garland of manganese flowers forming a reserve bearing the inscription "droits de l'homme et du citoyen". Foliage, stylised combed foliage and a manganese fillet around the edges. (Small impact to the reverse in the centre, not through). 18th century. Diameter: 23 cm. Provenance : - Former P.M. Sestié collection; - Pescheteau-Badin sale on 22/11/2006 n° 71. Bibliography: - Reproduced in the Louis Heitschel collection (1985), page 71 n° 21. cf : On 26 August 1789, the definitive text of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen was adopted, but one had to be able to grasp its scope and be educated to be the owner of such a base.
