Die eindrucksvolle Folge von Einzeldarstellungen der Heiligen Drei Könige lässt sich bislang keinem bestimmten Künstler sicher zuschreiben. Die Wiedergabe der Könige in Einzeldarstellungen ist insgesamt selten und in den Nördlichen Niederlanden bislang nur für die Utrechter Schule nachweisbar, so dass unsere Serie möglicherweise dorthin zu verorten ist. Die demselben kompositionellen Muster folgenden Bilder zeigen jeweils einen der Drei Weisen als Bruststück in einem engen Bildausschnitt, jeweils eine der drei Gaben Gold, Weihrauch und Myrrhe in den erhobenen Händen haltend. Die Verklammerung der drei Gemälde ergibt sich zudem durch die Darstellung des Einen im Profil nach rechts, des Anderen nahezu frontal nur leicht nach links gewandt sowie des Dritten im Profil nach links. This impressive series depicting the three Magi has not yet been attributed to any particular artist. Individual depictions of the three Kings such as this are rare in the Northern Netherlands, and have thus far only been found among artists of the Utrecht School, so that the present works are most likely to be localised there. The three paintings follow the same compositional scheme, depicting the kings in close-up bust format, each holding aloft one of the three gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The relationship of the three works to each other is additionally accentuated by their poses: One faces left, the other right, and the third is depicted near frontally with his face turned only slightly to the left.
