"A very rare children's book in fine condition" (Carteret). First separate edition of this tale by Nodier with vignettes by Tony Johannot printed in colour by the Strasbourg printer Gustave Silbermann. A very fine copy in a fine lined binding by Noulhac, complete with the fragile colour illustrated cover. Autograph note signed by Léopold Carteret on a flyleaf: "A very rare work for children.
