NODIER (Charles). Histoire du Chien de Brisquet. Preceded by a letter to Jeanne by M. Anatole France. Paris, Édouard Pelletan, 1900. In-4, fawn morocco, incised leather inlay, gilt edges, interior framed with two triple fillets and a mosaic blue morocco band, cover (É. Carayon). Carteret describes this as "a fine, rare and highly-rated edition", published to coincide with the 1900 Universal Exhibition.
Prefaced by Anatole France, it is illustrated with 25 compositions by Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen, including 5 in colour, all engraved by Deloche, Froment, Ernest and Frédéric Florian.
One of 25 copies on large Marais vellum, containing an original drawing signed by the artist and a double suite of proofs signed on old japon and on chine.
Spine slightly faded.
