It was customary every December to sell these little booklets containing carols composed to the tune of fashionable songs on church porches. Very few of these booklets have survived, due to the ephemeral nature of their content and their low price at the time.
In the Revue des livres anciens (t. II, p.170 et seq.), Louis Loviot gave a presentation of this copy, the discovery of which he considered to be a stroke of good fortune in [his] career as a bibliophile.
It contains five songs and is illustrated with a woodcut on the title (Nativity) and three woodcuts.
A fine copy of this bibliographical rarity.
Provenance: Louis Loviot (according to the Moura catalogue, but absent from the 1919 sale) and Édouard Moura (ex-libris, 3-8 December 1923, no. 514).
