Ein farbiges Frühlings-Feuerwerk: Inhaltlich werden die Kinder im Blüten-Meer zu Personifikationen des Frühlings des Lebens - laut mündlicher Überlieferung dienten die Kinder Nomellinis bei dem hier angebotenen Werk als Modelle. Da deren Geburtsdaten bekannt sind, lässt sich eine Entstehungszeit des Bildes um 1919/1920 vermuten. In einer nicht näher definierten Garten-Umgebung kauert ein Mädchen am Boden (Aurora *1904), halb scheint sie in Interaktion mit einer weiblichen Figur am linken Bildrand in einem virtuos gemalten blauen Gewand. Hinter diesem stehen ein blondes, jüngeres Mädchen im gelben Kleid (Laura *1909), das schwer an einer riesigen Traube blauer und violetter Blüten trägt. Sie wird spielerisch unterstützt von einem kleinen, nackten Jungen (Alceste *1917). Dass es sich bei ihm nicht um einen Putto handelt, sondern um ein ganz irdisches Geschöpf, machen die Schuhe und Strümpfe deutlich, die die einzigen Kleidungsstücke des Knaben sind. Virtuos behandelt Nomellini die Farbe dieses so frisch leuchtenden Gemäldes - von dick pastosen Farbtupfen bis zu zartesten, aquarellartigen Nuancen in der Behandlung des lichten Hintergrundes. Doch ist es auch ein Werk mit symbolistischen Zügen: Formal greift die weibliche Figur am linken Bildrand die Frau im Gemälde "Le Lucciole" von 1899 auf, kompositorisch wiederum steht das Gemälde in der Tradition des Jugendstils. She is playfully supported by a small, naked boy (Alceste *1917). It is made clear that he is not a putto, but an entirely earthly creature, by the shoes and socks, which are the boy's only clothes. Nomellini uses the colours of this freshly glowing painting in a virtuoso manner - from thick pastose dashes to soft, watercolour-like nuances in the treatment of the light-toned background. Nonetheless, it is also a work with symbolic qualities: formally, the female figure on the left margin is reminiscent of the woman in the painting "Le Lucciole" from 1899, compositionally, however, the painting stands in the Art Nouveau tradition.
