Frame. We are gratefull to Dr. Bernd Konrad for his help in deciphering the two plates. Dr. Konrad points out that the visit of the angel to the house of the Holy Family is very rarely expressed in pictorial reproductions. In his opinion, the motif alludes to Joseph's doubts, according to which an angel appeared to him in a dream while Mary was still pregnant, whereupon they were married. Herr Dr. Konrad weißt darauf hin, dass der Besuch des Engels im Hause der Heiligen Familie höchst selten in Bildwiedergaben seinen Ausdruck findet. Das Motiv spielt seiner Meinung nach auf Josephs Zweifel an, wonach ihm ein Engel im Traum erscheint als Maria noch schwanger war, woraufhin sich beide vermählen.
