Nottingham Mitte 15. Jahrhundert Anbetung der Könige Alabaster. Geringfügigste Reste einer ehemaligen farbigen Fassung. Stark erhaben gearbeitetes und teilweise hinterschnittene Relief. Die qualitätvolle Darstellung zeigt die unter einem Baldachin auf einem Bett liegende Muttergottes, die das Christuskind auf ihrem Schoß hält. Jesus greift nach einem Pokal, der ihm von dem knienden König dargereicht wird, die zwei anderen Könige mit ihren Gaben in ihren Händen sind um eine weitere Assistenzfigur aus ihrem Gefolge zu einer kompositorisch geschlossenen Gruppe ergänzt. Unterhalb der Maria sind der Hl. Josef mit Ochse und Esel sowie ein Hirte mit Schafen wiedergegeben. Nur geringfügige Bestoßungen. A high-relief depiction of the Virgin lain beneath a canopy holding the Christ Child in Her lap. Jesus is shown grasping for the chalice being handed to him by the kneeling king. The two other kings wait behind him with their gifts together with a further figure from their retinue, forming a closed compositional group. St. Joseph with the ox and ass and a shepherd with his sheep are depicted below the Virgin. Minimal wear. Mounted on a black wooden plinth with back panel. 43 x 32 x 5 cm.
