(i.e. Chr. Javacheff) Christ
Wrapped Mur des Réformateurs, Project for Geneva. 1977. collage of colour lithograph on wove paper, fabric, mounted photograph and street map. Visible dimensions 70 x 55 cm. Signed and numbered. Framed under glass (unopened). - Apparently in very good condition. Splendid, chalky lithograph, the collaged elements contribute to the sculptural and object-like character of the work.
Schellmann/Benecke, 94th - One of 100 copies. - Printed by Matthieu AG, Zurich. - Ed. Graphik International Stuttgart. - The work was created as part of Christo's projects to wrap three major landmarks in Geneva: the Reformation Wall with reliefs of Farel, Calvin, de Bèze and Knox, the fountain of Lake Geneva and the equestrian statue of General Dufour. Although these three wrapping projects were never realised, the artist's vision lives on in the editions - as a documentary expression of the unfinished, which nevertheless took shape in the spirit of Christ.
