The Nunuma, like the Léla, Winiama, Sisala and Kaséna, are ethnic groups grouped under the name Gurunsi.
Their masks represent protective spirits who watch over a family, clan or community. This hornbill mask with its long curved beak is spectacular and remarkable for its age and aesthetic qualities.

Provenance: Collection of Patrice CHRISTY, a recognised specialist in wildlife conservation, particularly in Africa.
