Rare complete copy of the third edition. - Contains two partly coloured pen and ink drawings for plates 88 and 92 - The series of caricatures entitled "Le Bon Genre" (German: Die feinen Sitten) were published over a number of years. The first illustration appeared in April 1800 and the splendid caricatures, which show the fashion of the time as well as acrobats and other public spectacles, were created by various artists who are not named on the individual plates. The publisher behind the series was Pierre de La Mésangé. The first edition of the collected series of "Le Bon Genre", which was published in 1817, initially contained only 104 caricatures. In the following years, plates 105-115 were added, which were published in the third edition with the first 104 engravings. - With a short preface and explanations by Pierre de La Mésangé. Each plate is titled and numbered in the plate. - Book block cracked. Foxing. Margins slightly browned. Illustrations mostly unaffected. Wide margins. Splendid engravings in strong colours.
