First French edition of the first part (the only one to appear in this translation by Godefroi Benistant) devoted to "trees with narrow and long leaves, and which always retain their greenness"; it is illustrated with 34 colour plates devoted to pines. The complete work, "Abbildung der wilden Bäume, Stauden und Buschgewächse", appeared in 3 in-4 volumes in Nuremberg from 1773 to 1804 (Nissen BBI 1461). This is followed by 28 colour plates of the section devoted to oaks, lime trees, etc., which has not been translated into French. Armorial bookplate Comte de Kerchove de Denterghem.
