Lot no. 215
GENERAL OFFICER. COIFFURES. Major General's kepi in fine madder cloth, headband in black cloth embroidered with two rows of oak leaves, gilt soutaches, black silk inner cap, black leather headband with silver "HO" monogram. Circa 1880-1890. BE Although this cannot be certified, the letters HO in the monogram may refer to Henri d'Orléans, Duc d'Aumale, who was a major general between 1872 and 1879 and was finally struck off in 1883. This kepi would therefore date from the period 1880-1883.
