OLBRAM ZOUBEK (1926 - 2017) THE THREE GRACES 1984/Pewter, partially gilt/Signed on plinth "O. Zoubek". The Three Graces give full voice to the femininity, playfulness and charm of the dancing female body. A larger version of the sculpture is currently located in front of the concert hall in Krnov. To be permitted to install the sculpture there during the Communist regime, the work had to be given an ideologically neutral name: Joy. Thus the Charities were allowed to joyfully dance before the public, even though censors were keeping a close eye on the artist who made them. The sculpture shows typical features of Zoubek’s work with elongated elegant female lines, fluent movement and skilled workmanship. Heigh: 73 cm, 71 cm, 71 cm.
