Military Watch
OMEGA military trench watch - First World War
Dimensions: 34 mm (excluding crown) in diameter
OMEGA hand-wound mechanical movement
Second hand at 6 o'clock
This OMEGA watch (known as the "OMEGA Trench") was one of the tool-watches used by soldiers in the trenches (1914-1918).
A true museum piece from the OMEGA Manufacture.
It was the first wristwatch: an adaptation of gusseted watches for military use.
Its index is painted and baked on enamel: large black and red Arabic numerals (a loss of colour and substance) on a white dial for legibility.
The watch has a large crown to make it easier to use when wearing gloves.
Does not start when wound, crown blocked
