Lot no. 997
Online - Modern and Contemporary Art Antonio Zoran Music Le bac. 1955. Colour lithograph on BFK Rives-Velin (with watermark). 38.5 x 50 cm (43.5 x 56 cm). Signed and numbered. - Sheet slightly browned due to age and margins slightly bumped in places. Verso with studio label and remnants of earlier mounting. Very good overall. Excellent impression with chalky effect, the colour nuanced and fresh. One of 200 copies. - Music is one of the few artists who found recognition in both Eastern and Western Europe. His style moves between expressive realism and abstraction; recurring themes in his work are landscapes - particularly from Dalmatia and the Venice lagoon - human figures, horses and religious motifs. His colour palette is often muted, his compositions are characterised by a calm, meditative mood and exude a deep emotional resonance. The present sheet shows a scene with abstract forms whose outlines are reminiscent of animal or human figures, as if focussed through binoculars.
