Provenance: Private collection, East Germany. - Emil Bartoschek studied at the Bauhaus in Weimar under Johannes Itten, Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky in the 1920s before moving to the academy in Breslau as a master student of Otto Mueller. His abstract works bear witness to an intensive exploration of colour and form, whereby the influence of his Bauhaus training is clearly reflected in his expressive choice of colours and playful compositions.
