The film is a surrealistically coloured, autobiographical "film opera" in which Saint-Phalle deals with the traumatic experiences from her childhood, in particular the sexual abuse by her father. The print series was created parallel to this film and consists of film stills that were hand-coloured by the artist and then reproduced using the offset printing process. The image motifs are framed by a typographic frame bearing the series title Daddy as well as the artist's name.
