Order of Taeguk
dating: circa 1900
provenance: Korea, A set of silver and enameled Grand Cross.
The pendent with small chips, the star in perfect conditions, the back with writings, brooch and hooks. Complete with sash and kept in its original case (damages), the closure with enameled leaves. Together with the original document of the order given to the Frigate Commander Federico Cravosio in 1902, since he signed the Italo-Korean treaty in 1886. Provided with the letter of Chief Commander of the Maritime Department in charge of giving the emblems and with the document signed by the Admiral; also provided with the translation of the diploma by the Consulate of H.M.the King of Italy and with another handwritten document in Korean language. Very scarce.
provenance: Frigate Commander Federico Cravosio, the captain of the military Vessel Rapido on which he sailed from 1886 to 1888 in different Asian Countries with the Minister De Luca, who signed several treaties with different countries: in particular, he signed a treaty of friendship and trade with the Reign of Korea, in which also Cravosio had an important role. See lot number 478, consisting of two marks in Asiatic languages, in carved wood and with text translated into Italian 'The Frigate Commander Cravosio, sent by the King of Italy as plenipotentiary to ratify the treaty'. dimensions 7.7 - 9.2 cm.
