ORLEANS - Guillaume LEVÉ A pair of flat-bottomed circular silver bowls or compote dishes with radiating ribs and a small moulded rim. Bearing the G.L master mark for Guillaume Levé on a heart of lilies and under a crowned sun, 18th century. Total weight : 784 gr Diameter: 23.5 cm Minor knocks or scratches Notes: They were designed for serving stewed fruit. These objects, characteristic of this period, correspond to a model created by Pierre Desmazures produced in 1707 or 1708 and kept in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Guillaume Levé was received as a master in 1717, the discharge for the city of Orléans is a cornucopia for the years 1729 to 1731, and the hallmark of the Jurande d'Orléans is a crowned K for the years 1728 to 1730. It is interesting to note that page 195 of the Musée d'Orléans book entitled "Les Orfèvres d'Orléans" shows a pair of identical bowls made by the master Guillaume Levé between 1726 and 1728.
