In-folio, contemporary ivory vellum, title-frontispiece, coat-of-arms, portrait of the Prince of Nassau, first page of dedication missing, false-title, 1 ff. n.c. of dedication, 284 pp. First French edition comprising 43 double-page plates, one of which is a triple, one of which is a short-margin plate. Several plates here are before the letter, uncaptioned, as we have seen from another copy. Upper spine damaged, otherwise a good copy. This work recounts the military exploits of Prince Maurice de Nassau (1567-1625) during the Dutch revolt against Spain in the Eighty Years' War. Among other events, it recalls the Battle of the Armada, whose fleet is represented in the book. Superb iconography with several maritime subjects.
