Friendship album with 15 original drawings by various artists. 1906-1937. 12° (14.5 x 11 cm). Soft cover with three gilt edges. Gilt edges and coloured paper endpapers (with larger defects).
Contains signed works by the following artists: Emil Orlik, William Strang, Walther Caspari, Fritz Ernst Rentsch, Leonhard Fanto, Walter Sintenis, Franz Hein, Hermann Sandkuhl, Harald Pickert, Dora Seifert and (Eugenie?) Hauptmann-Sommer. There are also two illegibly signed drawings. The first entry, dated 18 Feb. 1906, could provide information about the supposed owner of the album. It contains birthday wishes including a flower drawing by an aunt addressed to a person called "Phoebe". All but two drawings are dated, the majority between 1906 and 1915, only the drawing by Pickert at a later date, namely 1937. The works are executed in various techniques, including pen and ink, gouache, pencil and watercolours, and show portraits, landscapes and symbolistically inspired scenes, among other things. - Two layers loose. 3 sheets loose. The double-page drawing by Orlik loose and separated in the centre. The drawings generally well preserved.
