GILDED AND PATINATED BRONZE GRANDFATHER CLOCK, FRANCE CIRCA 1830 A fine gilded and patinated bronze pendulum clock, depicting a Cupid seated above the rock concealing the machine. A large festooned plinth base rests on two orders of moulding, terminating in corbelled feet, centred by finely chiselled rosettes. Gilded metal band dial with Roman numerals, richly adorned in the centre with a gilded bronze plaque depicting two young cupids, Breguet-style burnished steel hands, 15-day movement, with hour and half-hour strike on bell, to be overhauled, pendulum present, winding key absent.
