Coffee in the garden
Characteristic garden scene painted by the artist with a virtuoso, loose style and strong impasto application of colour. Pippel studied in Karlsruhe and Dresden under Gotthard Kuehl, among others. Based mainly in Planegg near Munich from 1909, he made his debut in 1911 at the Munich Glaspalast, where he exhibited regularly and frequently from then on. In addition to harvest scenes and views of lakes in Upper Bavaria, Pippel's main motifs included Munich and Starnberg beer and coffee gardens as well as par force hunts.
