Otto Pippel (1878 Lodz - 1960 Planegg near Munich) "Summer sun". Original title Excerpt-like composed view of a sunlit, idyllic country house. An early Impressionist landscape painted by the artist in 1910 with a virtuoso, loose style. Pippel studied in Karlsruhe and Dresden under Gotthard Kuehl, among others. Based mainly in Planegg near Munich from 1909, he made his debut in 1911 at the Munich Glaspalast, where he exhibited regularly and frequently from then on. In the same year, he became a member of the Luitpold Group artists' association. His style is characterised by flickering light effects and a dense, impasto application of paint using a palette knife technique or loose brushstrokes.oil on canvas; signed and dated (19)10 on the reverse.
