Otto Waalkes (born 1948 Emden; resident in Hamburg) "Be different - Udo". Original title Humorous work by the well-known East Frisian artist Otto Waalkes, depicting an Ottifant wearing the wide-brimmed hat, dark sunglasses and loose-fitting suit as significant identifying features of the legendary musician and artist Udo Lindenberg, thus standing out colourfully and conspicuously from the homogeneous mass of other Ottifants. The title says it all: "Be different"! The Ottifant as a comic figure is almost as popular as its creator, who made his breakthrough as a comedian in the 1980s and achieved a prominent level of fame. What almost seems to be a secret, however, is that Waalkes studied art education at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg - unfortunately, he was denied a place to study painting. During his studies, he lived in the legendary artists' flat-share "Villa Kunterbunt" in Hamburg-Winterhude, together with Udo Lindenberg, Marius Müller Westernhagen, Steffi Stephan and Günter Fink, among others.
