This was the first edition of Antoine Banier's long-popular French translation. The Latin text and the translation are printed opposite each other on two columns. One of the finest illustrated editions of Ovid's mythological poem, with a frontispiece by Bernard Picart, 124 large figures in the text, most by the same artist, and 3 plates outside the text, each comprising two subjects interpreted by Folkema after Charles Le Brun.
