Pair of extremely elegant silver girandoles. Flower-shaped, curved round base, merging into a conical, faceted shaft with offset, leaf-covered shoulder and corresponding faceted, slender spout. Insertable top with four fluted, curved candlestick arms, each ending in the centre in a cylindrical, faceted spout above a matching flower-shaped eaves bowl. Marked, inspection mark, tremolier mark, master Johann Philipp Hoffmann (becomes master 1824). Total weight approx. 2985 g. H. 49.5 cm. Cf. Scheffler, Hesse, BZ 153, no. 562, MZ 338. A pair of very elegant German silver girandoles by Johann Philipp Hoffmann (master since 1824). Test, assay and master's mark. German. Frankfurt/Main. Circa 1830.
