Pair of plates with depictions of children. Round form, smooth gold rim. The slightly recessed mirror with a gold-framed medallion depicting boys piggybacking and dancing in a spring-like, partly architectural landscape. Fine, polychrome painting. In the picture partly painter's monogr. "LG" in ligature, probably for Etienne-Charles Le Guay. On the banner, on a grey and yellow ground, stylised ornamental border of palmettes and flowers and acanthus leaf motifs in grisaille. Inscribed manufacturer's mark. D. 24.5 cm. Provenance: from the important collection of the Frankfurt banking family von Bethmann, which grew over generations. A pair of French porcelain plates finely polychrome painted with scenes of children. Partly painter's monogram "LG" probably for E.-Ch. Le Guay. Partly inscribed manufacturer's mark. France. Paris. Dihl et Guérhard. Circa 1800.
