Pair of Empire wall appliques after a model by Claude Galle for the Grand Trianon in Versaille 2-light; bronze, gilt. Narrow wall shield in the shape of an arrow with a large palmette finial. Short baluster shaft in the centre and sculpted swan figure as a support for the lamp. Designed by Claude Galle, c. 1809; rest; h. 53.5 cm. A 3-light version of the sconce intended for the bathroom was delivered to the court in 1809 and priced at 300 francs. Cf. Ottomeyer/Pröschel, p. 357. A pair of gilt bronze Empire sconces. Restored.
