PAIR OF FAIENCE PARROT JUGS
Glienitz or Proskau, around 1770.
Each bird sitting on a branch that forms the handle of the jug and rests on a round tree stump. Painted in bright colours, green, yellow and ochre. Each head modelled separately as a removable lid. Without mark.
H 25.5 cm.
Minimally restored.
This type of jug exists in several variations, not only from the Glienitz manufactory founded in 1752, but also from the nearby Proskau, for comparisons see the Pflueger Collection in New York, Hugo Morley Fletcher, The Pflueger Collection, London 1993.
