A pair of fine tea caddies with cotton wool scenes A tall, cylindrical, quatrefoil-shaped body with a strongly recessed shoulder and a fitted lid with a floral finial. Courtiers and gallant couples seated in a park-like landscape on both sides of the wall, some watched by a harlequin. Scattered flower arrangements on the wall. Gold lace border above. Cupids in a landscape on the lid. Fine polychrome painting with gold decoration. Lid with gilt metal mounting. Minimally chipped/rest; crossed swords mark. H. 11 cm. Provenance: Dissolution of an important German private collection - part I. A pair of porcelain tea caddies finely painted with Watteau scenes. Minor chipped/restored. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. Mid 18th century.
