PAIR OF WEDDING KNIVES Probably Dutch or North German, around 1600. Edged ivory handle florally engraved with arabesques and inlaid with coloured horn and amber in the form of stylised flowers and leaves. The end of the grip is slightly offset in a stylised lily shape and with a gilt ball pommel. Long, conical blade guard with engraved volute decoration and remnants of gilding. Centre-pointed blades. Forge mark. L 19.5 cm. Ball pommel with dents, amber inlays with defects and chipping, cracks in the ivory. Blades with traces of corrosion. This object has a trade licence for the EU area. Due to the use of protected materials, this object may not leave the EU.
