Pair of Louis XVI-style silver girandoles. 6-light; domed, fluted round base surrounded by fluting. Open-worked shaft above a central flower rosette, consisting of three voluted supports framed by acanthus leaves, ending in a vase-like vessel with a screw-on flame finial and fully sculpted depictions of rams' heads. Surrounded below by three sculptural flower festoons. From this, six curved candlestick arms with spouts resembling calyxes. Central ornamental band with three attached, high-oval medallions with the family signet and the motto "Deus Providebit" of the Hamburg Michahelles family. Two medallions missing. Minimal rest; marked 800, maker's mark. Total weight approx. 4820 g. H. 53 cm.
