Pair of rare Wrisbergholzen obelisks as courtly table decoration Faience. Richly relief-painted form on a rectangular foot with volutes on both sides with mascarons and acanthus leaves in relief, the obelisk also with mascaron reliefs and stylised leaf motifs in relief on all sides, crowned by a sphere. Decorated and painted in cobalt blue hot-fire colours. One obelisk damaged; h. 44.5 cm. Provenance: from the Michahelles Collection, Hamburg, which has grown over generations. A pair of rare North German blue and white faience obelisks as centrepieces. Major flaws to one obelisk. Wrisbergholzen. Circa 1740.
