Pablo PICASSO (1881-1973) - Paul ÉLUARD (1895-1952) [Poem]. To Pablo Picasso. Pet. in-4 (28 x 22,3 cm), jansenist sand calf binding, smooth spine with gilt author and illustrator, caramel velvet lining and endpapers, folder and slipcase (Creuzevault). Dated 1938, this long poem is taken from the exhibition catalogue of Pablo Picasso's works at the Galerie Louis Carré in 1945. The catalogue, entitled Picasso libre, 21 peintures, 1940-1945, contains black-and-white reproductions of Picasso's works, accompanied by texts chosen by Paul Éluard, including this poem entitled "À Pablo Picasso" on pages 21 to 28. In our volume, only the text of the poem has been preserved, the sheet with the reproductions (pp. 23-24) having been replaced by the one corresponding to pp. 29-30.
