Pablo Picasso (1881 Málaga - 1973 Mougins) "Pichet au vase". Original title Ceramic (faience), 1954, baluster-shaped, thick-walled, twisted jug with a flat base, conical neck, short, elongated spout and strong eared handle. Light, slightly cream-coloured body, white pewter glaze. The sides are decorated with two stylised vases, executed in a wax recess technique and incised, painted in black, blue and yellow. Brush mark on the base with numbering "EDITION PICASSO 37/500 MADOURA", also impressed marks "EDITION PICASSO" and "MADOURA PLEIN FEU", no. "3" painted in yellow. H. 29.5 cm. White tin-glazed earthenware (faience) "Pichet au vase" pitcher with decor in wax resist technique, painted in black, blue and yellow (A. R. 226). Conceived by Picasso in 1954 and executed by the Madoura Pottery workshop in Vallauris in a numbered edition of 500.
