Pablo Picasso (1881 Málaga - 1973 Mougins) "Profile de taureau". Original title Ceramic (faience), 1956, slightly convex, rounded wall plate with hanging loop on the back. Hanging loop on the back. Relief decoration with a bull's head in profile, combined with a wax wash technique and black painting. Dated "XXII II (19)56" (mirror image in relief). Verso impressed marks "EMPREINTE ORIGINALE DE PICASSO" and "MADOURA PLEIN FEU". D. 24.7 cm. Cf./Lit.: Alain Ramié: "Picasso. Catalogue of the Edited Ceramic Works 1947-1971", no. 317. Glazed earthenware "Profil de taureau" wall plaque with black painted relief decor in wax resist technique (A. R. 317). Dated 'XXII II 56' (in reverse; lower right), conceived by Picasso in 1956 and executed by the Madoura Pottery workshop in Vallauris in an edition of 450.
