PAIR OF BYZANTINE LEAD BULLAE WITH MONOGRAM AND EMPEROR. Ca. AD 600 - 800. A pair of lead bullae, including, from left to right: a circular bulla with a cruciform invocative monogram within a wreath, and three lines of Greek inscription within a beaded border on the reverse; and a quatrefoil bulla with a bust of the emperor within a double roundel, the reverse with a cross in a central medallion framed by a dotted band. Size: 29-30mm x 25-26mm; Weight: 13g Provenance: From an old British collection formed in the 1990s; previously acquired in Holland.
